Early Life |
In 1961, Steve and his family moved to Mountain View CA. This was just south of Palo Alto, which was starting to become the place for electronics. The area even started to be called Silicon Valley. Silicon is the material that is used in many computer chips. After living in Mountain View, the family moved to Los Altos, CA. It was the house they moved into where Apple Computer was first founded.
Steve graduated from from Homestead High School in 1972. He then went on to attend Reed College, in Oregon. However, he dropped out after one semester to go to India and study eastern religions. In 1975, Jobs starting going to the Homebrew Computer Club. Here, he met Steve Wozniak, who was really good with technology. They were both extremely interested in how they could create some type of personal computer. So in 1976, Steve and Jobs decided to create their own company. They called it Apple Computer, for the time Jobs used to take care of an apple orchard during the summer.
